After installing Start8 on my AMD Athlon II X4 system with 8GB I was no longer able to run any combination of VMs with Hyper-V that used over 3GB.  A single 4GB VM would not start until the memory was lowered down to around 3300MB.  Task Manager shows more than enough available RAM, for example. 3GB VM running, TM shows 4GB+free, attempting to start a 2GB VM fails.  Similarly, with nothing running but system tasks, a 4GB Vm will fail to start with the same lack of memory error.

After uninstalling, the memory was "released" and I was able to start a 4GB VM again.

How strange.  Probably unrelated, but I was getting a similar problem in VMWare Workstation 8, however this was after I had uninstalled Start8 (this was before the new beta came out with the Win7 style start menu).  An upgrade to Workstation 9 fixed it though!
